# 03 · Source control

https://exo.now/docs/stack/source

> Entire is the primary Git-compatible source host and keeps agent sessions with source history.

<StackFacts dimension="03 · Source control" platforms="["entire"]" status="Primary source host. GitHub remains a compatibility mirror during migration." />

## What it is [#what-it-is]

The source dimension answers: what exact code and agent context produced this result? Entire is
the primary source host and implementation-context authority for every managed project. It captures
repositories, branches, sessions, checkpoints, source, and review context
([build and deploy](../../../docs/build-and-deploy.md)).

## Platform [#platform]

**Entire** ([entire.io](https://entire.io)). Work is tracked as Entire trails. For example, the
roadmap's platform items link to trail `IV-170`. `IV-###` identifiers persist from the retired
work register.

## Boundary and replaceability [#boundary-and-replaceability]

* The contract is a plain Git repository with **no host-only runtime dependency**
 ([architecture](../../../docs/architecture.md)). Switching source hosts moves Git history and loses
 only the captured session context.
* GitHub may mirror source and change objects for ecosystem compatibility, but it must not become
 a second workflow (AGENTS.md). Linear is retired and must not be updated.
* Exo owns portfolio intent and release state. Entire owns source and execution provenance
 ([ADR 0003](../../../docs/adr/0003-convex-first-control-plane.md)).

<Callout title="Known inconsistency" type="warn">
 [How Exo builds and ships](../../../docs/build-and-deploy.md) still describes GitHub Actions
 running `pnpm check` and `pnpm verify`. The accepted EXO Verify decision (ADR 0005, on `main`)
 rejects GitHub Actions for verification because the owner is leaving GitHub. Until EXO Verify
 ships, treat the Actions description as legacy.
</Callout>

## Cost notes [#cost-notes]

Entire pricing: **TBD** (not recorded in the repository).

## Status [#status]

* **Live:** Entire is the primary remote for this repository; GitHub is the mirror.
* **Open question (ADR 0005):** does Entire expose webhooks or a checks API? The answer decides
 how EXO Verify is triggered. The CLI and polling fallbacks keep the design unblocked either way.
